keep calm and bake cookies (relocated)

This is a delayed posting. The hubby just got his care package today and I didn't want to post this back when I wrote it because, well, it would have spoiled the surprise!! Life has been moving at warp speed lately, most spouses of the deployed would be ecstatic about that; and I'm happy about time going fast for sure, but my to do list keeps getting longer and I don't feel like I've stopped to take a breath since I was sick a few weeks ago. Anyways, life could always be worse, and things are sure to get interesting over the next few weeks so I guess I'll just hang on tight and see what's in store. ..meanwhiel, back at the ranch, I had an actual blog to post, so here it goes!

Tonight I dove into a spur of the moment baking endeavor to get some goodies sent to my husband in time for Valentine's Day. I was planning on sending these eventually, and I seemed to be catching killer bees in my honey today so I figured I would drown the day with a little baked goodness! It wasn't a bad day, just a "stop the world and let me off" kind of a day, and everyone seemed to be in a bad mood. I'm a firm believer in making the world a better place with cookies!! (stole from "Stranger Than Fiction"...great movie) Okay, I totally stole this cookie idea from some blog so I can't take credit for the creativity, but I did do all the work myself. I wish I could see the look on my husband's face when he opens his care package to find these......

Aren't they cute!? I'll give two warnings with this project.....don't expect to come home from work, walk your dog, bake cookies, decorate cookies, eat dinner, clean up the mess, and then go to the gym...because these took FOREVER to decorate...probably because I'm OCD and I made a double batch of sugar cookies and never want to see a sugar cookie again in my life! Anyways, I came home, walked the dog, baked the cookies and stopped decorating at 9pm...which left me no time to get to the gym or eat dinner. (The things I do for my husband!) Totally worth it though, he deserves every wonderful bite :)

The second warning is...these are probably best created with some good friends. Plan ahead, don't make them spur of the moment like me...but if you are baking alone, these cookies go best with a glass of wine :)
